Hi fans and punters,

Another week has rolled by and the racing has been great. Winx was just, well……..Winx. She just keeps winning. And so does Black Heart Bart, the marvel from the West. What a warrior. And wasn’t it great to see the Caulfield card showcased brilliantly yesterday on racing.com with plenty of pre and post race information…….don’t get me started. Calm down Tommy.

The Award this week goes to a couple of my close mates who live on the South Coast of NSW at a beautiful little town called Berry. Of course, I speak of Robert and Luke Price.

This father and son combination have just formed a training partnership and have pushed all their chips in and created two stables, one on a private farm south of Berry and the other at Kembla Grange. And they are absolutely flying.

Despite only having a small number of horses in work, they have had 5 winners this week.

At Moruya on Tuesday, they had a treble. Le Dejeuner kicked off the spree when it bolted in ridden a treat by promising young kid Brock Ryan. It was followed by Feisty Fox who was superbly ridden by the king of the provincials, Grant Buckley. The treble was completed by a horse who has had a few convictions, Hail the Chief, again ridden by Bucko. He has now put two together, unusual for him, and he is ready to win in town.

The boys then made the long journey to Wyong on Thursday for the Showcase meeting and took two horses up there to have a crack at the big prizemoney on offer. And they got a 100% return for their efforts.

Fly Forward, superbly ridden by Kathy O’Hara, led all the way to win and then the big one, the 150k Provincial Championship race was won by the stable star, the tough Noble Joey ridden a treat again by Kathy. Jumping from an outside barrier, he used plenty of petrol to take up the running but then Kathy backed off the speed and expertly cuddled him to the turn. She then let him loose when they entered the short Wyong straight and held off the late challengers to win well. It was a great win, and a great ride and only spoiled by Skyfloat’s refusal to show post race interviews when they decided to cross to a camel race at Ipswich.

The Berry Hotel went off that night with Luke Price dancing on the bar to the tune of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. And Robert really let his hair down…….he was in bed by 8.

5 winners in 2 days from a small team. A great effort by two of the nicest and hardest working blokes you will ever meet in this lifetime.

I live just south of Berry myself and get to the pub there often. In fact, Mrs. Tommy works there. So Robert and Luke, let’s make a plan to meet up, have a feed at the Pub and when we get there, you can buy me a beer.

Until next week this has been Tommy from Campbelltown……signing off.
