Race 3 No.14 MANTASTIC

RACE 6 NO.3 MOUNT KILOCY

Race 1

Sticking with the race youngster HUMMA HUMMA who looked soft in condition but still beat a classy field last start. Further fitness and the extra furlong I believe will only aid his chances. Big tips for the unraced Hawkes colt by O’Reilly and the Hayes and Dabernig Fastnet Rock colt with Craig Williams to ride from barrier one.

1 – 6 – 7 – 2

Race 2

SOUL STAR had very little go her way last start when finishing ninth but under a stranglehold so from a good barrier here I am hoping she sees daylight and use the dash she has. Josephine Sea comes through the same race and her effort was solid after doing work in the run to still be there at the finish. Miss Norway charged home from well back in the same event and will appreciate the extra 100m here.

11 – 4 – 3 – 7

Race 3

MANTASTIC has only raced in Australia twice and both runs have been full of merit when running second at Flemington then here two weeks ago. This is a far tougher race than he met last start but with no weight and a fair tempo on paper and of course his improvement he should be hard to hold out and looks one of the better bets. The stablemate Another Coldie just needs to repeat last start with his query being the extra 100m. Quick Defence is the improver at juicy odds.

14 – 5 – 10 – 6

Race 4

In a race with not much speed on paper I think THE AVENGER can hold his position from the good barrier and that may just prove the difference. His last start in Sydney was solid when covering ground on a soft surface so he will enjoy getting back on dry ground. Mr Individual can bounce back here from a good barrier and easier grade while the favourite Demolition must be respected off a cracking run last start but he now goes to the seven furlongs for the first time.

7 – 6 – 16 – 10

Race 5

RILLITO picks herself here coming off a strong winning run here two weeks ago when showing an impressive turn of speed. The little awkward gate will need some navigating for Craig Williams but if she can just get a nice time during the run she can dash very smartly. Divine Quality comes back in grade and may well decide to roll forward trying to settle in front of the favourite to give her the best chance. Life On The Wire is first up off an outstanding barrier trial back at home in Tasmania and from gate one deserves some respect.

Race 6

It looks a match race on paper between the top weight Masculino who even after the claim for Zac Spain will carry 59kg conceding his opposition a minimum of 5kg and up to 8kg plus my top selection MOUNT KILCOY. Mount Kilcoy has only raced four times winning once with three second placings but looks a progressive type from the Weir stable and being by High Chaparral I think he will enjoy the step up to 2000m. They both look quality horses destined for better races but with the weight pull and better gate I am firmly in the corner of Mount Kilcoy.

3 – 1 – 5 – 8

Race 7

VOODOO LAD is back from a horrible road trip firstly to Adelaide for the group 1 Goodwood where he never got into the race from gate one and then Queensland where he covered ground on a heavy track that never suited him nor where he was in the group one Stradbroke handicap. Darren Weir is a master in freshening horses up and if he has Voodoo lad jumping out of his skin he will take some beating in this. Crystal Dreamer goes enormous fresh and should give a big sight here and may prove hard to run down. The favourite Jukebox has trialled well and must be hard to beat but keen to see him in the yard being first up for almost nine months.

1 – 2 – 6 – 4

Race 8

Looks a tough race with a lot of winning chances and horse’s that can bounce back and run up to their better form. I have finally gone with STREET SHEIK who will carry no weight and if he gets the opportunity to build through his gears he will keep coming with 51kg on his back. Al Passem who beat him last start will again be somewhere there from a good barrier while Snitzepeg who comes through the same race should be able to settle closer from barrier one then he did last start from the outside. Summer Sham, Usain Bowler and King’s Authority all have claims.

9 – 3 – 2 – 6

Race 9

If BARTHELONA can bring his Flemington form here to Caulfield where he has won once previously he will take some beating here especially with only 51kg on his back. He has drawn well and races handy making his own luck and is flying so hard to see him not running well. Theanswermyfriend is another who races best at Flemington but looks well placed here coming off a nice three month break. Call Me Handsome was forced to work a fraction too much last start when gallant in running second but from a good gate today he looks a major player.

10 – 13 – 3 – 1
