Everest Day @ Randwick – Richie’s Tips

BEST BETS:

RACE 6                        NO.13              KEMONO

It may be called the Sydney Stakes 1200m but it’s commonly known as The Everest consolation and it’s a $500,000 so it’s nothing to be sneezed at. I am going a little left field here with the former Japanese sprinter KEMONO from the Darren Weir stable. His three runs since arriving on our shores have all been tip top with the latest being his best but he is still on an upward spiral and he looks ready for this type of race. They should run along here and I have him slotting in somewhere between 5th-9th and ready to pounce. The wet track is the query but I’m saying he’s a strong adaptable bugger that will get through it and give a big sight.

RACE 9                        NO.5                ONE FOOT IN HEAVEN

ONE FOOT IN HEAVEN may be coming through a group 2 race last start while a few of his opponents raced in a group one but I say this 7yo rig was in the tougher and better quality race. He was beaten just three lengths in the Hill Stakes by Caulfield and Melbourne cup ‘live’ chance Ace High and what you have to remember is that it was a run a firming good 3 surface while he will grow a leg on a heavy track. From a nice gate and the step up from 2000m to 2600m should mean he won’t be far away and will be able to utilise his turn of speed.
